Optional: FAQ on your domain
Serve FAQs at yoursite.com/faq using your site’s forwarding rules.
Do you need this?
No. The FAQ embed is the easy default and already places answers on your pages. This optional advanced setup is available on paid plans and requires control of your website hosting or a developer.
A forwarding rule fetches the RankChat FAQ while visitors keep seeing your own address, such as https://example.com/faq. This is a subfolder—not a new subdomain or a DNS connection to RankChat.
Set it up
- Open Settings → FAQ on your domain.
- Enter your intended FAQ address, such as https://example.com/faq, and choose Save.
- Choose where your site is hosted: Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, Nginx or Next.js.
- Copy the generated forwarding rule into that platform’s configuration and deploy or reload it.
- Open your chosen address and check that your approved answers appear.
- Back in RankChat, choose Check setup and confirm the Live badge. Also check the address followed by /llms.txt and /sitemap.xml.
Good to know. Use the generated code, not another chatbot’s snippet. Shopify, Wix and Squarespace usually do not provide the required forwarding control; use the FAQ embed instead. A basic WordPress installation may require help from its hosting provider.
Platform checklist
Cloudflare: create a Worker using the generated code, then add a route for the FAQ address on your site. Avoid covering unrelated paths.
Vercel: add the generated rewrites to vercel.json, preserving any existing configuration, then redeploy.
Netlify: add the generated lines to your publish folder’s _redirects file, then redeploy.
Nginx: add the generated location blocks inside your site’s server configuration, validate the configuration, then reload.
Next.js: merge the generated rewrites into next.config.js, preserving existing rules, then redeploy.
Changing or removing the address
If the address changes, save the new address, update your website’s forwarding rule and run Check setup again. Verify the page and feeds after any hosting change.
Use Remove in RankChat to disconnect the address, and remove or redirect the forwarding rule on your website too. Do not leave a broken FAQ link in your navigation.
